Dear friends,
Here is hoping that you all have had a chance to recover from all of our fun times at Convention this year!
Let’s celebrate Mary Woltman as the new DCCW President 2015-2017 and support the newly elected DCCW Boardmembers! The best is yet to come!
Thank you so much for your participation and dedicated hard work to make Our Lady of The Way District successful in all of our DCCW assignments.
Gerry Mingione, Lou Lerner, and I managed to prepare all 220 “Goodie” Bagson Saturday night to welcome our members from all over the St.Petersburg Diocese.
Pinellas, Hernando, Citrus, Pasco, and Hillsborough Districts were represented.
Especially, I want to thank Lou Lerner, Kate Kilbride, and Ginny Sorota for taking the “early” shifts at the Hostess Desk so I could “ring the bell” and open doors for the business sessions. Everyone complimented the pretty yellow leis and rhinestone headpieces that Lou found for us to wear.
Mary Ann Holup, Kate Kilbride, and Sherri Pennington helped “tearing” meal tickets in the evenings as people entered to insure an accurate count. Thank you to everyone who helped “cover those doors”!
What can we say about our “Cheek-to-Cheek performance except that our official “Choreographer”, Mary Ann Holup, made it work! Thank you, Mary Ann, for making all of those “props”!
Thankfully, no one got “bumped” too hard or fell off of the stage! Gerry Mingione, you “stole the show” as the “perfect” dance partner! : )
We must have been born in the wrong era…You ladies came up with the perfect 1930’s outfits! My “applause meter” indicated the loudest appreciation from the audience!
Then there was Cheryl Childers and Rosemary Wilson in their “Yellow Polka-Dot Bikinis”!
((**)) Did Terry Smith dance too? We were just laughing and enjoying the whole production!
Likewise, we all paraded the “Red Carpet” on Oscar Night..so much fun to see Fr.Ted Costello as “Rocky” and Fr. Bob Schneider as “Justin Bieber”!!
Thank you to Marybeth Miller for giving Marge Leesemann a ride to attend the Bishop’s Mass and the Banquet. Marge has been our inspiration for many years! Also, it was wonderful to see Mary Beth Toland again this year. (Karen Battaglia, you were missed! Get dancing soon!)
The Most Reverend Robert N. Lynch, DD, and Banquet Speaker, Rev.Fr. Garry Welsh provided a very entertaining evening! Can you remember any of those funny jokes?
Very Rev. Fr. John McEvoy also was there, and he was presented a plaque for his many years of service as Spiritual Advisor to the women of St. Petersburg DCCW. (He certainly earned it! May God bless him!)
Together, DCCW ladies presented several thousand dollars to the Bishop’s Vocation Fund and to key Catholic Charities as a result of our teamwork.
These are just a few of the Convention photos for you…Between us, we could make our own album of District photos if you would like.
(A good summer project ? )
We will get together to nominate District Boardmembers for the new term soon…Hopefully, we can also fill our CCW rosters.
Please consider your friends as reliable candidates and invite them to serve with us. They will have the added advantage of friendly, experienced, and happy “mentors” like you!
“That’s the story of, That’s the Glory of Love!”
Blessings,
Daret
